About Me
On Olympus:
I actually joined in April of 2011. It says February because I had to sacrifice my forum account when we did some updates (Geek did too!). I became trusted in May, never saw myself orange as I donated 3 times until I was made guide in June. I them became a mod in July, and an admin in September. In November, I became uber. I've seen a lot of friends come and go. I do my best to please everyone.
Tagline:
"The net confuses me, but I'm prepared for this. I'm assuming every human is a cyber-terrorist"
Rant about myself:
I'm a strongly opinionated asshole who is out to conquer the world. I deal in facts and truth. I love having fun at the expense of other, remember that 90% of the things I say outside of a factual debate are probably going to be sarcasm. I love satire, so if I suddenly start saying how much I love Ronald Reagan, I'm probably screwing with you. I'm a idealistic person, I think perfect ideas are the ones that make perfect people. I spend lots of time on my PC (macs are EVIL). Don't be surprised if I randomly go full-geek on you during a conversation. I love to debate politics, religion, and technology. I stand firmly behind my beliefs and I wish you luck in trying to change them. I love witty humor that takes a thought to understand. I like to interlace some deep philosophical things into things I do. I feel like everything has a message and something more than its face value; I am on a constant adventure to find out what that message is.
My heritage is mostly Canadian with some European wildcard in there. In all honesty I love my country, but I don't love everything it does. I'm big on peace and non-violence but I still strongly admire the men and women that defend my liberties.
Some people say that there are 3 kinds of people: Those who lead, those who follow, and those who watch. I want to be one of those people who lead, I have a strong belief that a group of strong thinkers and doers are more powerful than any single one.
Oh and I like coffee... A LOT!
I like my privacy and may even be considered by some to be anti-social in some ways. Misconception! I just have better things to do. I like productivity and am incorruptible in my efforts to achieve it.
I know lots of random trivia about history and world events. I no-life Wikipedia for at least a few hours a week and read/watch the news everyday. It has lead me to be fascinated with how people think, sometimes I just can contemplate how fucking stupid some people can be... like... how could someone use so little logic in coming to a conclusion. I hate misinformed clowns who carouse the world teaching without being educated.
With all of my political and tech rants it's surprising I don't want to be a senator or a programmer. In all honesty my passion is in science, I love biology and I love the scientific explanation on how things work. I feel like when I inform people I am helping them. I want to be a doctor because I love science and love helping people. It makes a little bit more money than a programmer too. Got to pay the bills right?
Oh and I like coffee... lots of coffee...

Since Geek, Game, and Drummer are all busy preparing for the storm and I am not so much in the crosshairs of it, I just wanted to let everybody know that we do not expect any outages as our hosting is currently in Arizona for Olympus services.
Game on,
Doom.

@Edge
I believe in second chances, its a very rare occasion one is banned over a singular incident. I believe in third chances too, ever heard the saying "Third times the charm!"
Its when you start getting into the 4th and 5th chances I start to get weary.

Over months of playing on Olympus I have personally seen us shift from being a survival community to a freebuild one. One where materials and tools were nearly infinite and the server was highly illegitimate.
Stargates were meant to be similar to warps. They bring you places. If I want to go to California I do not tap my shoes together, get swarmed by fairies and pixie dust, and get teleported to California.
I instead have to dish out my debit card, buy a ticket, and travel there by some means of transportation. Remember, if you have the warp receipt, you can get a stargate!
The problem with warps is that they were too convenient.
Game, Orlando, and myself have put a lot of work into the new map and the plugins and hope that you see what our goal with them was.
Also, the cost of homes and stargates is much less to be an inconvenience, it is more to control inflation.
And in all honesty, people have been screaming for iconomy for awhile, all iconomy really represents is a substitute for iron. 100 Drachmas = 1 iron. We put no tax in it, the exchange rate is the same both ways. It is meant to be a convenience for players, don't like it, don't use it to trade, just put some iron in the bank for homes and stargates occasionally.

Well I think it's just wrong blaming me. Almost everyone on the server swears. A lot of people do it..
http://olympus-gamin...farewell-rules/
Also. Bashing a member or staff member.
Wins for navy.
I don't mean to be mean or anything, but it's the fault of your mother you can not be here, I will not punish every member so it may be convenient to you. There's an awful irony in the world that some want to just push their beliefs on other people but have no desire to open their eyes to other beliefs. It pains me that she is setting you up for such failure.
Good luck in what you do next in the future, but with your attitude and expectations I don't see much in that future.
#176595 Innapropriate

Well, they arent shielding me from "the real world." They are shielding me from sin. And even i know that if i hear enough cussing, ill end up letting it slip out. Or something innapropriate.
Btw, are u trying to make cussing sound ok? Cuz im sure that would be the vibe my parents would pick up XD
Also, they cant go to my school... Im homeschooled.
Pincho is like, my partner on Olympus. Doom, I like what you wrote. I miss him being on Olympus. I also want him to see the city I've been working on with Gun_Gal. :/
The F word and S word and B word are all bad, but they are just words. I am not aloud to say them, but they are just words. It's not like it's the end of the world. =P
To clarify, it's not necessarily the swear that is bad. What's the diffrence between telling my friend a bunch of swears to insult him and insulting him in a more articulated manor. Each will get the point across, the swears more vulgar than the other, but each have the same feelings behind it. It's the feelings behind it that are the problem.
I'm not telling you that swearing is good thing to do. Try swearing on a job interview and you'll regret it. I'm saying that sometimes swearing is just a method used to express frustration.
Let's say that I'm talking to my friend and he gets mad at me for saying something. There's no difference in saying "You really stupid" and "You're really f****** stupid." One just is more vulgar than the other. Here's the thing, by being shielded from the negative aspects in society you don't get to judge them for yourselves; you have to accept the judgement of others, right or wrong.
I rarely swear, I'm considered to be many to be a clean mouthed person. I was never shielded from swearing; instead, I judged for myself when swearing is good or bad. If one does not get to judge something for themselves, then in the future, they will not know how to deal with it.
Many kids who go to college and are shielded by all things negative their entire lives end up going crazy once they get freedom because they don't know what to do with it.
To sum up, I'm not saying that swearing is good, nor am I even saying its bad in all cases. Its the feelings that drive you to swear that are bad, and those are the thing that need to be dealt with.
